Leslie Stolarz has a new teen book out, BLEED. I love the cover. And the title. Totally captures the feel of the book. No happy-feel-good story with that title. It's actually interconnected short stories, and I'm a huge fan of short stories.

Status: Am feeling like quite the athlete. Not only did my amazing field hockey team win the league championship last night, but I just booked myself a week of sailing school in the spring.
This morning my son raced into my room to ask if we'd won the playoff game last night. We did. And because we won that game, we had to immediately play another game for the championship. Which we also won. The win is way more due to some crazy play by my teammates than anything I did, but it was still a blast. My son then wanted to know if I got a trophy (I don't). But I do get a t-shirt! Which I will bring on my sailing adventure in May.
[cue the Christopher Cross music...] I have always wanted to learn to sail (I don't think captaining a Sailfish at a Club Med when I was 12 counts). So my two best friends (one of which claims to get seasick, a claim we'll put to the test) and I are taking to the sea in Key West in May. We'll live on-board, sail all day, and imbibe under the stars at night. We are so excited. And I'm convinced we'll be competing in the America's Cup by the time we're 50 - the wind blowing in our hair as we cross the finish line. Now I just have to figure out how to get a boat.
